apres quelques semaines de preparation au World Master Chocolate de Barry Callebaut, Yusuf Karal a reussi a presenter du beau travail. Dommage qu'il y ait eu meilleur mais c'est les aleas de la competition.

After few weeks of preparation to the World Master Chocolate of Barry Callebaut, Yusuf Karal has managed to present some nice work. Pitty there was stronger candidates but it is the rule of the competition.

Merveilleuses Ceramiques turques/ Wonderfull turkish ceramics

 

Iznik fut longtemps tombée dans l'oublie malgré les splendeurs des palais et mosquées turques, traces tangibles de cette production: Malheureusement les deboires economiques et les pogroms anti grecs et armeniens du 20ieme siecle (la grande majorité des maitre potiers faisant partie de ces deux communautés) ont presques fait disparaitre ce savoir faire que certains ceramistes turcs contemporains (dont Ismail Yiğit) et la fondation d'Iznik cherchent a retrouver. On trouve aussi a Iznik des ceramiques des années 70 qui ne sont que de la vulgaire poterie en terre rouge et meme aujourd'hui une grande partie de ce qui se vend a Iznik a bien la signature Iznik mais n'est que de la faience qui vient de Kütahya (donc attention!!!).

Ce qui fait la particularité de la ceramique d'Iznik c'est qu'elle contient 80% de silice ce qui lui procure une grande robustesse (certains panneaux en exterieur ont 500 ans. Son vernis aussi est tres difficile a obtenir ce qui explique beaucoup de perte a la cuisson (et des prix plus elevés que la faience de Kütahya). la difference du produit n'est pas que financiere mais c'est une beauté unique.

Iznik has been long forgotten even thow gorgeous turkis palaces and wonderfull mosques were still the tangible traces of this production. But sadly due to economic fail and pogroms against the greeks and armenians during the 20th century (the majority of the ceramist masters were from these two communauties) has made vanished this know how that few comtemporary turkish ceramists (like Ismail Yiğit) and the Iznik foundation try to revive. One find also from Iznik some ceramics from the 70 with are poor poteries in red clay and even today a good part of what is sold in Iznik while carrying the Iznik signature is originaly from Kütahya (so be carefull!!!).

What makes the particularity of Iznik ceramic is that it contains 80% of silice that gives it its great strenght (certain panels exposed to weather are 500 years old): Its varnish also is very difficult to optain and expalin big loss at the baking process (so higher price than Kütahya faience). The difference is notjust on price but its beauty is unic.

Hezarfen Ahmed Çelebi premier homme volant! / Hezarfen Ahmed Çelebi first flying man!

Le dernier CD du compositeur Fazil Say (pianiste et opposant notoire a l'islamisation rempante de l'espace public turc) consacre un Concerto a un denommé Hezarfen Ahmed Çelebi. Rien de moins pour piquer ma curiosité et decouvrir un supposé evenement de 1632 mais qui fait  parti de la mythologie turque

Dans un ouvrage d'un grand voyageur du 17ieme siecle Evliya Çelebi (ayant beaucoup d'exagerations mais notoirement considéré pour avoir présenté la société ottomane du 17ieme siecle et ayant documenté une trentaine de langues de l'empire) il est fait reference a ce Hezarfen en 4 phrases assez vagues qui disent que sous le regne de Murat IV il aurait volé de la Tour de Galata jusqu'a Üsküdar soit 3.3 km avec un denivelé de 85m et ce en traversant le detroit du Bosphore.

Il aurait d'abord été remercié par le Sultan qui l'aurait ensuite exilé en Algerie le jugeant dangereux.

Vu les données rationnelles du terrain et surtout les vents et courants violents au dessus du bosphore ça semble assez peu fiable mais en tout cas cela m'aura permis d'en decourir un peu plus sur les turcs et aussi d'écouter un concerto pour Ney et orchestre bien agreable.

In his last CD, the composer Fazıl Say (pianist and notorious opponent to the islamisation of the turkish public space) dedicate a Concerto to Hezarfen Ahmed Çelebi. Nothing more to ticle my curiosity to discover an alleged event from 1632 that is part of the turkish mythology.
In a 10 volumes work of a famous traveller from 17th century Evliya Çelebi (that has tendency to exagerate many facts but is considered to depict the ottoman society from that time and also for his record over 30 languages from the empire) he makes reference to this Hezarfen in 4 not very precised sentences that say that under the reign of Murat the 4th, this man would have flight from the Galata tower until Üsküdar so a distance of 3,3km with a 85m hight difference crossing the Bosphorus straight. He would have been rewarded by the Sultan but then exiled in Algeria on the suspition of being dangerous.

Considering the field configuration especially the violent winds and streams over the Bosphorus it seems not much reliable but at least it gave me the opportunity to get to know the turks better as well as to discover a very pleasant Concerto for ney and orchestra.

Ce fut une soirée tres agreable que celle organisée Par les chocolats Belcolade afin de promouvoir les chocolats d'origines au consulat general de Belgique place Taksim.
acceuil aux sons des violons, cocktail, degustation de differents chocolats et ganaches, presentation du travail et des realisations de Stephane Leroux qui realisa de magnifiques dervishes. Cerise sur le gateau a notre depart nous avons tous reçu son dernier livre "Matiere Chocolat" en cadeau.
It was a very pleasant evening that was organised by the Belcolade chocolates in order to promote their origin chocolates and this at the general consulate of Belgium at Taksim square.
Welcome with violins, cocktail buffet, tatsing of various chocolates and ganaches, presentation of Stephane Leroux works who realised gorgeous dervishes.
Cherry on the top of the cake we all recieved while leaving his last book "Matiere Chocolat".

La vie en Rose

Apres la St Valentin, bientot le printemps saison des amours alors un peu de tendresse et de couleurs ne font pas de mal.
